The $199 cataract eye screening includes
Visual acuity test
Determines the smallest letters you can read on a Snellen chart placed 6 metres (20 feet) away.
Tonometry test
Measures the pressure inside your eyes to screen for glaucoma.
Manifest refraction
Measures your eye prescription (eg myopia, astigmatism) with trial lenses.
Pupil dilation
Administers eyedrops to increase the size of your pupils to fully examine the optic nerve and retina.
Slit lamp examination
Your cataract eye doctor will examine the anterior eye health including your eyelids, cornea, and natural lens.
Consultation with your cataract eye doctor
Your cataract eye doctor will share screening results, recommend cataract surgery and treatment options, and answer any questions you may have.

Frequently asked questions
Can I claim cataract surgery fee from my MediSave account and health insurance?
Yes, cataract surgery cost can be offset by claiming up to $3,210 per eye from your MediSave account. If applicable, the surgery is also insurance-claimable.
Do I need to be hospitalised for cataract surgery?
Cataract surgery in Singapore is performed as a 30-minute day surgery per eye. There is no need to be hospitalised. You will be discharged on the day of surgery.
Will cataract return after surgery?
Your cataract will not return after surgery as your natural lens will be removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens. It is a one-time surgery.
Will I need glasses after cataract surgery?
We provide a wide range of intraocular lenses (IOLs) for cataract surgery to suit one’s lifestyle needs and cataract eye condition. We are able to implant Trifocal IOLs, which allow one to have good near, intermediate and far vision without glasses for most activities post-surgery.
When should I consider cataract surgery or cataract treatment?
You may consider surgery if your cataract has affected your vision and impact your ability to perform your daily activities.
