What to stop doing before LASIK surgery?
Before your surgery at our LASIK clinic at Mount Elizabeth Novena, you are advised:
- Not to use soft contact lenses 3 days or hard contact lenses 2 weeks prior to surgery.
- Not to use eye makeup on surgery day – no mascara, eyeliner, or eye shadow.
- Not to use facial products on surgery day after shower: no lotions, creams and perfumes.
- Not to drive on surgery day.
How to prepare your schedule and home for recovery?
After your procedure at our Mount Elizabeth eye clinic here in Singapore, it is now time to return home to rest and below is what you need to take note of:
- Though most people can regain functional vision the next day after LASIK surgery, some people will still prefer to take 1 to 3 days off work to rest and relax.
- Protective eye shields will be provided to use the first 5 to 7 days while sleeping to prevent rubbing while sleeping.
- Use sunglasses only if you find the lights are glaring. They are not compulsory.
- Ensure you have enough eye lubricants and ointment to moisturise your eyes generously for the first 3 to 6 months.
What to wear and bring on surgery day?
Your surgery will be performed at our LASIK clinic at Mount Elizabeth Novena. Please see below for a list of what to do’s:
- Wear loose-fitting and comfortable clothes. Avoid clothes that must be pulled over your head.
No jewellery and accessories.
- Bring your identity card.
Arranging transport and caregiver support
Here are what to arrange:
- Have a friend or family member to take/drive you home after surgery.
- It will be apt to have someone you can call on the first 24 hours in the rare case of an emergency.
- Ensure you have the eye clinic’s contact number in case you need urgent medical advice.
- Ensure you are informed of your 1st follow-up appointment date and time to have your eye checked post-surgery.
