Standard LASIK only corrects a person’s basic refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. Wavefront-guided LASIK is a customized excimer laser treatment that not only corrects these refractive errors, but also unique imperfections of the eye (higher order aberrations) that cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or even conventional LASIK surgery.
At Lang Eye Centre, we use the highly sophisticated Wavefront Technology known as the Advanced CustomVue wavefront-guided LASIK. This is carried out using the state-of-the-art Visx Star S4 IR machine. The CustomVue Procedure provides a precise, unique, and more detailed analysis of your vision.
Lang Eye Centre makes use of new iDesign technology, which is latest ultra-precise diagnostic tool to map and analyze the irregularities of the cornea prior to the customised LASIK procedure. The iDesign system precisely creates a 3-D mapping of the unique imperfections of your eyes and captures 5 times more information and 25 times more precision than with standard methods used for glasses and contact lenses. The information captured from iDesign is then transferred to the excimer laser to design an individualized treatment for each of your eyes.
The combination of iDesign technology and the Advanced CustomVue wavefront-guided treatment enables the delivery of a more accurate and effective treatment, meaning better quality of vision with less visual side effects. Featuring the revolutionary Fourier algorithms, iDesign technology delivers the highest resolution available, thereby resulting in the most accurate and individualized treatment possible for the widest range of indications.
The CustomVue Procedure is combined with Iris Registration, the first fully automated method of aligning and registering your one-of-a-kind wavefront correction, thereby helping to ensure greater precision and accuracy in treating refractive errors and aberrations. It is therefore also more precise in correcting astigmatism compared to conventional standard LASIK.
The Visx CustomVue wavefront-guided LASIK is a world leader in wavefront-guided lasik treatment in terms of visual results, the percentage of patients obtaining 6/6 vision or better and accuracy of treatment. Wavefront-guided LASIK gives patients better visual results compared to standard LASIK, such as sharper and higher quality vision, with less glare, halos and starbursts at night. In the US FDA studies, 98% of patients could see 6/6 or better. It has greater precision, thereby increasing the success rates and reducing the need for enhancement surgery.
